Your MAAS-BGW Certification at a Glance

The management requirements of the German Social Accident Insurance for Health Services and Welfare (MAAS-BGW) are a recognized standard for occupational safety in the healthcare and social sectors. They define clear requirements that enable you to seamlessly integrate effective and sustainable occupational safety into your quality management system.

The certification is primarily aimed at companies and institutions in the healthcare and social sectors. Non-member companies of the BGW can also participate, but they do not benefit from financial support. Examples include:

Hospitals

Care facilities

Medical practices

Daycare centers

Social institutions

Your path to certification:

1

Information and Pre-Audit (optional)

In an initial informational meeting – either by phone or in person – we address your questions about the certification and support you in preparing optimally for the process.
2

Document Review (Pre-Audit)

The submitted documents are reviewed by the BGW. If necessary, the BGW may conduct a discussion with you. As the certification body, we then receive an evaluation of the reviewed documents.
3

Certification Audit, Audit Report, and Evaluation

Regardless of the BGW document evaluation, the certification audit is conducted directly on-site at your location. During this process, the management system is assessed and documented, taking into account the BGW summary report.
4

Certificate Issuance

After successfully completing the audit, a recommendation is sent to the BGW. The BGW then decides on the issuance of your certificate, which is valid for three years. If an additional ISO audit was conducted, you will receive your ISO certificate directly from us.
5

Reimbursement of Certification Costs

A portion of the certification costs may be reimbursed by the BGW. The exact amount of the reimbursement depends on the specific conditions set by the BGW.
6

Regular Surveillance Audits

To maintain the certification, so-called supervision audits are conducted annually. These ensure the continuous compliance with certification requirements.
7

Re-Certification

After three years, the certificate is renewed through a re-certification audit. During this process, steps 2 to 6 are repeated to ensure ongoing compliance.
